The Valley Branch Watershed District (VBWD) does a fantastic job of helping to protect our local waters, including management plans and annual reporting. Their annual Aquatic Plants and Management point-intercept survey is an invaluable source of water quality and AIS data in Lake Elmo lakes.

The Lake Elmo Park Reserve is 2,165 acres (3 ½ square miles) with 80 percent of its acreage set aside for preservation and protection. Lake Elmo lake is an important part of this ecosystem.
The Park Reserve provides public access to Lake Elmo lake, an facilities the include a fishing pier, a motorized boat launch, and a canoe/kayak launch.
